Hopefully we’ve caught you before it‘s too late.
And by “it” we mean: mistaking TestoGen for Testogen XR.
That’s a mistake you don’t want to make for a couple reasons, and if we’ve caught you early enough, then consider yourself (and your prostate) lucky. TestoGen is not Testogen XR, and (obviously) vice versa. Put simply, one works and the other …eh, well, it sort of works, maybe, but it’s nothing we’d recommend on this site.
Here’s everything you need to know on the differences between Testogen XR and TestoGen. Let’s get on with the review.

Round 1: Formulas
With exception to their names and a couple ingredients (D-Aspartic Acid and Vitamin D, two of our top 5 BIG List of T-Boosters favorites), these supplements almost entirely unique formulas, down to their serving formats: powder scoops for Testogen XR and caps for TestoGen. But which formula works better? Check it:
Testogen XR: Ronnie MF Coleman, baby
The Ronnie Coleman Signature Series Testogen XR formula neatly divides into a few categories, each aptly named by function:
- AI Metabolizer – for natural aromatase inhibition (“A.I.”) effected by the popular anti-estrogen compound diindolylmethane (DIM).
- Absorption Agent – for the patented AstraGin™, a premium grade absorption enhancer.
- Performance & Enhancement System – mixing a traditional male vitality enhancer (horny goat weed) with lean muscle growing green tea extract and more.
Outside of these blends (the latter of which unfortunately holds a proprietary status) are the staple Testogen XR boosters, most notably: D-Aspartic Acid and Vitamin D — two of the best testosterone boosting ingredients known in 2017.
The remaining ingredients, AGMASS™ Agmatine Sulfate and L-Carnitine Tartrate, benefit sports and bodybuilding performance by increasing N.O. boosted blood flow and lean muscle growth, respectively.
TestoGen: Zinc, D-Aspartic Acid, Zinc, and Zinc
Compared to Testogen XR, the TestoGen formula carries one more of our favorite testosterone boosters: Zinc — the manliest mineral for prime male levels of T-synthesis. However, for reasons we’ll get into in the next round (Dosages), TestoGen’s zinc content actually turns out to be a disqualifying factor for TestoGen in this comparative review.
Even so, to TestoGen’s credit, the supplement provides a winning stack of D-Aspartic Acid, Vitamin D, and Fenugreek Extract, targeting an increase in both total and free testosterone levels. The Tribulus and Ginseng ingredients on the other hand are, well… good for libido and male health but don’t quite work for testosterone status.
Ditto for the Selenium, Vitamin B2 and B5 — yet, the Vitamin B6 is a solid addition, almost hitting the sports nutritional ZMA mark (Zinc, Magnesium, and B6) of muscle and strength replenishment.
Strictly in terms of ingredient choices, both Testogen XR and TestoGen impress with their base selections, yet Ronnie Coleman’s supplement takes this round for impressing us further with its overall design and hefty powder servings. (Just beware the occasional mud-butt side effects reported in the Testogen-XR customer reviews.)
Round 1… Testogen XR Wins.
Round 2: Dosages
Any chance TestoGen had at besting Testogen XR in this review is burned in this round, due to the stack’s intensely high dosage of Zinc: 72 mg — which is a 480% DV for zinc, as opposed to the 97% DV reported on the Supplement Facts.
This is problematic for a couple reasons:
- Prostate Health — excessive zinc supplemented for too long can be harsh on the prostate, leading to major issues down the road.
- Trust Issues — if the Supplement Facts screwed this up, what else did they misreport? How are we supposed to trust anything??
Yet, while this disqualifies TestoGen from the 1 v. 1 supplement battle here, Testogen XR likely would have still taken the round for the 1120 mg DAA it has over TestoGen’s DAA, as well as the higher D3 dosage.
One of the benefits of powders over capsules: denser servings.
Round 2… Testogen XR Wins.
Round 3: Ingredient Quality
D-Aspartic Acid is a bitchin’ test booster. But you know what’s better?
The enhanced version: D-Aspartic Acid Calcium Chelate.
Neither formula uses it, so we’ll have to stay happy with the DAA form — which, admittedly, gives enough reason to be happy. As for the remaining ingredients, we see a couple patented forms on Testogen XR’s side — AGMASS™ and AstraGin™ — and a couple herbal extracts on TestoGen’s side — Tribulus and Fenugreek — and… that’s essentially it.
In terms of the overall quality of the formula themselves, both products toss in a few junky additives that we could do without, e.g., FD&C colors and magnesium stearate. Yet, Testogen XR amps it up to another level with its Absorption Agent extract, rectifying its issues with its “Other Ingredients” and taking another W over TestoGen.
Round 3… Testogen XR Wins.
Round 4: Price
Testogen XR | VS. | TestoGen
1 Bottle (30-day supply) | $99.99 | 1 Bottle (30-day supply) | $54.95
Price Per Scoop | $3.33 | Price Per Capsule | $0.46
Price Per Serving | $3.33 | Price Per Serving | $1.83 |
Round 4… TestoGen Wins.
Round 5: JUDGEMENT
Don’t get it twisted: Testogen XR and TestoGen are clearly different supplements.
And it’s not just that they’re different but they’re unequal. One is clearly better than the other and we’re sure you can figure out which is which by this point. If not, then let us summarize the rounds one more time for you:
- Round 1 – Testogen XR has better strength and testosterone boosts.
- Round 2 – Testogen XR has great dosages; TestoGen has WAY too much Zinc.
- Round 3 – Testogen XR demonstrates better potency and quality.
- Round 4 – TestoGen is cheaper.
Yet, TestoGen can’t even win the 4th round outright, considering that you can buy Testogen-XR from most retailers at less than half the price listed above. What’s more, TestoGen offers a bunk-o 60-day money back guarantee that requires you to use their product for a minimum of eight weeks, leaving only four days left for you to attempt to get your refund.
Simply put, the whole TestoGen operation just stinks.
Testogen XR, on the other hand, smells gooooood.
