We’ve titled this post the P6 Red review, yet this easily could have been the P6 Original Review 2018 Update — or some other SEO-friendly word salad — as there seem to be a few P6 products that share this formula.
Or if not this exact formula then a revised rendition of this formula, wrapped in the same or similar red testosterone booster label.
But don’t get it twisted: There is a distinct P6 Red supplement.
And this review takes a look at that exact formula. So, let’s read the P6 Red review to see exactly what (if anything) sets this formula apart from the other P6 supplements.

About P6 Red
As what seems to be a previous P6 Original formulation, P6 Red is one of several “Original” P6 testosterone boosters, offering a baseline P6 test boosting experience. However, with so many P6 products available on the 2018 market, you’re primary concern here should be: Is it better than the other P6 formulas? Formula notes:
- “Original” P6 Original: We’re unsure where P6 Red sits in the chronology of P6 Original testosterone boosters …but it seems to be one of the older versions.
- Adaptest™ Ashwagandha: The featured testosterone booster in this stack is the increasingly popular ashwagandha adaptogen; great for stress, strength, and testosterone.
- Proprietary: Cellucor has two bad habits: 1) the proprietary blend, and 2) poor capsule quality. P6 Red is no exception on both counts.

Cellucor P6 Red is both a familiar and an elusive P6 testosterone booster product.
You may have had a similar issue in pinpointing this product down on the internet, due to the various P6 titles attributed to this formula. On Amazon, you’ll find this same set of Supplement Facts for “P6 Red” and “P6 Original”.
Then there’s the overlap between P6 Red and P6 Xtreme — FFS, the proprietary blend in this formula is called P6 Extreme Blend.
Regardless, let’s check out the contents of this proprietary blend to see what we’re dealing with here.
P6 Red Review: Ingredients
Overall, P6 Red’s ingredients split between the eight ingredients in the P6 Extreme Blend and Tribulus alatus extract. Let’s start with the blend:
P6 Extreme Blend
Setting aside 1114 mg for eight ingredients, the P6 Extreme Blend allows for a potential average of 139.3 mg per ingredient. Not a spectacular average amount, especially given that the lower prioritized herbal extracts require substantial dosages to work.
Nonetheless, this proprietary blend opens with a pretty decent testosterone boosting adaptogen: Ashwagandha (as Adaptest™). Not quite a Best for Test level booster but still great for sex and strength enhancement.
However, that’s about it for testosterone boosting in this blend. The remaining ingredients instead focus on other male health concerns — for example:
- Estrogen Control – Agaricus bisporus.
- Prostate Protection – Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettle, Myrica Rubra.
- Grossing Us TF Out – Ovine Placenta.
Not too sure why Cellucor remains committed to the Ovine Placenta in their testosterone boosters: it’s not much of a male booster, at least not in a tightly packed capsule supplement.
On the whole, we’re not seeing too much testosterone boosting action in this formula. And the dosages are somewhat questionable, due to the proprietary status of this meh dosed blend.
Tribulus Alatus Extract
If the previous eight ingredients don’t quite cut it, then Tribulus alatus Extract may serve as P6 Red’s saving grace. While many supplements go with the Tribulus terrestris version of this super popular herbal sex enhancer, P6 Red gave us the premium stuff: Tribulus alatus actually demonstrates greater testosterone boosting potential than its terrestris relative.
But even so, Tribulus alatus lacks the power found in, say, D-Aspartic Acid, a BIG List of T-Boosters favorite, as well as the featured ingredient in P6 Black.
Formula Analysis
Sold as an Ergogenic Testosterone Booster, P6 Red seems to focus just as much on bodybuilding as it does on optimizing male sex hormones. Believe it or not, this is a key difference, as while increasing testosterone does help with muscle growth, some male healthy ingredients may improve ergogenic activity without boosting testosterone.
And P6 Red seems to fall in this latter category.
Cellucor’s ad copy claims P6 Red creates the “the right environment for muscle growth” focusing on “the BIG THREE”, which are:
- Increase Test
- Inhibit Estrogen Formation
- Reduce DHT Formation
And P6 Red does supply at least one ingredient for each of these actions, e.g.: Ashwagandha for test, Agaricus bisporus for estrogen, and Saw Palmetto (Stinging Nettle, Myrica Rubra) for DHT. Granted, it’s not the most power packed stack of male enhancers. (P6 Black does a better job at enhancing male health and testosterone.) But it achieves the advertised diversity of bio-benefits.
Even so, it’s hard to say how great this supplement is until Cellucor releases the “proprietary” status from its blend. Also, what’s with the sheep placenta?
What kind of fetish is this, Cellucor??
P6 Red Benefits
By targeting the “BIG THREE”, P6 Red promises to increase your:
- Strength
- Lean Muscle
- Virility
Essentially, P6 Red claims to increase your physical exerciser performance by optimizing your hormones to prime male levels. While P6 Red doesn’t sport any of the BIG time testosterone boosters in its formula, its ingredients do check out for the task at hand …for the most part.
Fortunately, P6 Red calls for a double daily serving intake, otherwise we’d have even graver doubts on that proprietary blend’s dosage.
Who Takes It?
Natural Muscle Builders. Is P6 Red a younger male bodybuilding supplement or a mature man testosterone replenisher? We’re not 100% sure either way. On the one hand, these ingredients do seem to assist with muscle growth… but the heavy emphasis on prostate protection is something that appeals to older men. Either way, P6 Red is a testosterone booster for the muscle building male.
Any Side Effects?
Not really. Because Cellucor and P6 are big names in the testosterone boosting game, you’re like to find at least a few negative customer reviews on this supplement. However, these seem to be massive outliers. On the whole, P6 Red uses safe and natural herbal extracts, so we’re not too worried about this one.
P6 Red Review Summary
Pros
- Natural Extracts. P6 Red takes the safe, natural paths to male enhancement.
- Tribulus Alatus. Trib doesn’t boost test, yet alatus seems better than terrestris.
- Adaptest™. Ashwagandha is awesome. Branded ashwagandha extract is even better.
Cons
- Weak Boosts. No BIG-time boosters here: D-Aspartic Acid, Zinc, Mucuna pruriens…
- Proprietary. Another non-transparent Cellucor blend coming in cold.
- Dirty Caps. Various unnecessary fillers and additives in these pills.
Pricing and Where to Buy
- 1 Bottle (45 days; 180 capsules): $89.99
- Available online and in retail stores
You can buy P6 Red through various retailers, including Amazon and …maybe, GNC? As we mentioned, this is a weird supplement to pin down, namely because it shares an identity with P6 Original. And occasionally P6 Original and P6 Red share the same Supplement Facts. Occasionally they don’t.
Are we missing something here?? GNC even lists P6 Original twice at separate price points. So, the whole thing’s sort of strange and sloppy.
Final Word on P6 Red
As one of the previous P6 Original formulations (that’s what this is, right?), P6 Red isn’t the best in the P6 series. Nor is it the worst — or at least it’s not a bad supplement. It’s pretty decent, providing a diverse enough range of ingredients to enhance male health and performance through a variety of bio-pathways. But is it worth the price Cellucor is asking? Mehh… no.
