You can either be:
- Ripped and Smart
— or —
- Ripped and Sexy
These are your only menu options, respectively ascribed to: P6 Black, Cellucor’s “Legendary Anabolic Agent,” and P6 Ripped, Cellucor’s “Thermogenic Testosterone Booster.” Both Cellucor supplements shake up the testosterone booster standards by hybridizing their male enhancers with nootropics or fat burners. (Although, admittedly, an effective testosterone booster may assist with cognition and weight loss through the testosteroneric pathways, so…)
However, even given the design differences, there is a superior supplement option here. Read the comparison review to find out which one that is.

Round 1: Formulas
With so many Cellucor P6 products on the 2017 market, we could probably run this website solely on P6 vs. P6 comparison reviews. The match-up possibilities seem endless.
For now, we’ll stick to P6 Black vs. P6 Ripped to get you started on your Cellucor P6 journey. Or to deter you away from that path completely. Only one way to find out!
P6 Black Review: Test Boosters and Nootropics
It isn’t enough to be big and beefy these days.
The modern man must also be smart and shit.
Which is why Cellucor took it upon themselves to stack testosterone boosters and cognitive enhancers, i.e. nootropics, in P6 Black — “LEGENDARY ANABOLIC AGENT”. With the supplement’s so-called “Nootropic Testosterone Technology,” P6 Black accomplishes both ball and brain boosts, divvying its boosters into three separate blends:
- Nootropic Testosterone Matrix – Starring big bad boy D-Aspartic Acid, our favorite testosterone booster, alongside nootropics D-Serine and Alpha-GPC.
- Vitamin & Mineral Support Blend – Another Best5 favorite Zinc plus Copper, Vitamin D, and Vitamin B6 (in potent Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate form).
- Androgen Support Matrix – More androgen support with Mucuna pruriens (smart choice!) and Andrographis paniculata (what??).
P6 Black wins our hearts by supplying four of our five favorite testosterone boosters — DAA, Zinc, Mucuna Pruriens, and Vitamin D (missing Boron) — in generally impressive forms.
P6 Black could do better by removing the proprietary statuses to their blends, but we’ll cover all of that in Round 2: Dosages. Here’s the full P6 Black testosterone booster review.
P6 Ripped Review: Test Boosters and Fat Burners
Whereas P6 Black wants smart muscle heads, P6 Ripped helps out the fatty bros, providing a 1-2 mix of testosterone boosters and fat burners. The two blends found in this Cellucor formula:
- P6® Testosterone and Performance Blend – The top boost here: Ashwagandha as KSM-66. Not too shabby. Tribulus alatus ain’t bad neither, but it doesn’t quite fit the bill of a true testosterone booster supplement.
- P6 Ripped™ Perpetual Energy and Thermo Blend – That’s right: Caffeine, our #2 favorite fat burner ingredient. Even if it is just caffeine. The remaining fat burners include Forskolin and Cayenne as Capsimax.
The P6 Ripped plan: Increase testosterone, enhance performance, and boost energy and metabolism. The goal: Better exercise performance and leaner bodybuilding muscle.
However, we’re not entirely convinced that P6 Ripped adequately executes its plan.
For one: The testosterone boosters are pretty weak. Especially in contrast to P6 Black’s smart selection of ballsy test boosters.
For two: The fat burners seem way under-dosed. Nowhere near the critical mass dosage levels required for them all to work. However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves on that point …so, let’s explore it in the next round.
Before we do so, we’ll have to give our Round 1 verdict, which, as you may have guessed, favors P6 Black over P6 Ripped. Here’s the full P6 Ripped testosterone booster review.
Round 1… P6 Black Wins.
Round 2: Dosages
Cellucor has a bad habit. And it goes by the name of: Proprietary Blend.
P6 Black has three proprietary blends.
P6 Ripped has two proprietary blends.
Except what’s nice about P6 Black’s proprietary blends is that one of them, the Vitamin & Mineral Support Blend, displays its ingredient dosages externally. As in outside of the “proprietary” blend. And the other blends, namely the Nootropic Testosterone Matrix, are packed with enough dosages for its ingredients to work …theoretically.
P6 Ripped doesn’t do a poor job with its primary blend’s dosage, especially given that the directions call for two daily servings. However, the fat burner blend’s 315 mg isn’t much at all. It seems P6 Ripped has only crammed a decent supply of caffeine into this blend while sprinkling in the remaining fat burners.
A classic caffeine trick that creates the perception of an effective supplement by caffeine’s reliable boosts on energy and mood.
Both Cellucor supplements lost points for their proprietary blends. However, P6 Black loses fewer points by showcasing a little more transparency than its Cellucor counterpart.
Round 2… P6 Black Wins.
Round 3: Ingredient Quality
Cellucor often makes up for their Round 2 hiccups with their consistently exceptional ingredient quality in Round 3: Ingredient Quality. P6 Black and P6 Ripped are no exception here.
Each supplement demonstrates higher potency ingredients and bio-activities with their premium grade testosterone boosters and potent extracts. Key highlights for each supplement:
Ingredient quality highlights for P6 Black
- Chelated DAA – D-AA-CC outperforms the already competitive DAA.
- Natural Extracts – Highly potent standardized botanical extracts.
- Vitamins & Minerals – B6’s P-5-P outperforms the standard Pyridoxine HCl.
Ingredient quality highlights for P6 Ripped
- KSM-66® – Research backed extract of strength enhancer Ashwagandha.
- ZümXR® – Extended release brand of caffeine.
- Capsimax® – Popular, patented extract of cayenne, a hot thermogenic fat burner.
Not to say that these supplements are perfect: Both could improve the quality of their caps. Another Cellucor bad habit: additive filled and colored capsules. Yet, each P6 product’s formula impresses in this round.
Round 3… Tied.
Round 4: Price
P6 Black | VS. | P6 Ripped | ||
1 Bottle (30-day supply) | $69.90 | 1 Bottle (30-day supply) | $99.99
Price Per Capsule | $0.77 | Price Per Capsule | $0.83
Price Per Serving | $2.33 | Price Per Serving | $1.66 |
P6 Ripped outcompetes P6 Black in the “Price Per Serving” category. This is true. Yet, P6 Ripped requires two daily servings, jacking the daily intake price to $3.32; whereas P6 Black stays at $2.33 per daily. Not that any of that matters in terms of the final judgment call for this round. Either way, there’s only one winner in Round 4 of the P6 Black vs. P6 Ripped comparison review.
Round 4… Cellucor Wins.
Round 5: JUDGEMENT
P6 Black undoubtedly beats P6 Ripped as a testosterone booster.
As a nootropic, P6 Black also beats P6 Ripped; yet P6 Ripped responds by beating P6 Black as a fat burning testosterone booster. Or at least a caffeinated testosterone booster.
On that note, while P6 Black doesn’t outright target fat loss, P6 Black does manage its hybrid nootropic testosterone design better than P6 Ripped manages its anabolic fat burner hybrid. Plus, P6 Black comes out cheaper than P6 Ripped in the long-run. Much cheaper.
For that, we’re taking our test boosts black in the final P6 Black vs. P6 Ripped decision.
