Here’s an Alpha test for you:
- Bench or Squats?
- Meat or Potatoes?
- Pulp Fiction or Fight Club?
(Correct Answers: 1) Yes, 2) Yes, 3) Shit ya, dawg.)
If you answered Yes to all of these questions, then you, my bro, are a rudish, brutish Alpha Male.
But you’re not standing on trial here. MuscleTech’s T-booster Alpha Test is… Let’s see how it ranks on our Alpha test.
Table of Contents
About Alpha Test
As a recycled, condensed version of MuscleTech’s “Performance Series” T-booster Test HD, Alpha Test provides similar action, but in the “Pro Series” category. Alpha Test is nearly identical to Test HD, but with less overall ingredients & the addition of Fenugreek. And, honestly, it’s looking purdy noice. Formula notes:
- Foundational T-Booster: Alpha Test’s design doesn’t “break the mold” by any means, but it offers a solid base for an athletic-oriented T-boosting regimen.
- Non-Proprietary: This has become a staple of MuscleTech formulas and, not only as reviewers, but as consumers, too, we frickin’ appreciate it!
- Questionable DIM: One of the few potential drawbacks of this formula is Diindolylmethane—a popular anti-estrogen compound unhinged by contradictory research.

Alpha Test = Man Minerals, Horny Herbs, &… Broccoli!
Not just Broccoli, but Diindolylmethane (DIM), an anti-estrogen compound that, truth be told, we’re not particularly excited about… But more on that later.
Let’s begin with the basics—Zinc & Boron:
Topping our BIG LIST of T-Boosters at #2 and #5, respectively, Zinc & Boron instantly guarantee T-boosts in this formu—
“These minerals guarantee T-boosts? You’re excited about minerals??” you ask.
You’re damn right these minerals excite us. Have you ever supplemented Zinc & Boron? We’re talking direct increases of T production, increased free T counts, reduced girly prolactin levels, not to mention Boron’s multi-tasking T-boosting benefits against sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) and T-killing estradiols.
And in terms of dosaging, Alpha Test is on point, providing 15 mg Zinc & 10 mg Boron daily, just enough to get things rolling—however, we’d prefer to see Zinc in the more absorbable Zinc Citrate form, which is what you find in the good shit.
At least Alpha Test doesn’t have the Zinc + Calcium mess going on in MuscleTech’s Test HD.
Fenugreek, 300 mg
Also, compared to MuscleTech’s Test HD, Alpha Test shares the same base of ingredients, but slims off the low-dose peripheral ingredients—apparently leaving enough capsule space to toss in a hefty 300 mg dose of Fenugreek: A T-booster that works great for muscle recovery & sexual health, with research showing significant action against aromatase & T-killing enzymes.
Fenugreek seems a popular choice among athletic-oriented T-boosters, which explains its presence here. And that 50% saponin standardization? Not too shabby, Alpha Test.
Tribulus Terrestris, 250 mg
Without Fenugreek, this would be the T-boosting highlight of the formula, which would come as a disappointment: Tribulus Terrestris might boost T in men with already low T levels, but most human studies suggest Tribulus isn’t that great of a T-booster.
We do need to give props, however, for this 250 mg dose (times two daily) and 45% saponin standardization. Noice, Alpha Test, very noice.
Other than that, we’ll just include this in the “sexy time” category of ingredients for its potent libido spiking activity on the body.
Shilajit (PrimaVie®), 100 mg
How does “conqueror of mountains and destroyer of weakness” sound? That’s the legendary title of Shilajit, the skazzy resinous mineral mix that grows on rocks—presented here as the potent, branded PrimaVie®.
Research suggests that 90 days of 250 mg daily Shilajit supplementation can help increase free T, total T, and DHEA levels. Alpha Test uses 200 mg daily Shilajit, however this isn’t too much of a downgrade from the research.
MuscleTech likes to tout Shilajit for its ATP-producing benefits, making it a stout energizing compound in this T-boosting formula.
Diindolylmethane (DIM), 50 mg
Labeled as Broccoli powder, Diindolylmethane (DIM) is an increasingly popular anti-estrogen compound used in male-enhancing supplements. The idea: In men, DIM is believed to optimize the T:Estrogen ratio primarily through inhibiting aromatase action.
The issue(s):
- DIM is overwhelmingly used for post-menopausal women’s health.
- Certain research suggests DIM might actually decrease T levels.
While contradictory research is common for all ingredients, we’re hesitant to give DIM a full pass considering the risky nature of its pro-hormone/anti-hormone properties.
Formula Analysis
According to MuscleTech, Alpha Test is “The Most Powerful Testosterone-Boosting Formula” on the market today… So there you go, that’s the end of the review! What else do you need to know?
When you compare it side-by-side to the best T-boosters currently on the market, Alpha Test is a far cry away from the “most powerful” T-boosting formula, so MuscleTech’s bold claim (like many of their bold claims) is unearned here.
But if it’s not the “Most Powerful Testosterone-Boosting Formula,” then what is it?
- Alpha Test is a straightforward male-enhancer with moderate T-boosting potential & muscle energizing effects.
It is solid, which is more than we can say about most T-boosters. There are no loose ends, leaked bioactivity, unchecked ingredient interactions—Alpha Test is well-contained with enough polish for a few shiny attributes: Standardized herbs, well-researched (branded) Shilajit, 2 of our best Best5 T-boosters…
Alpha Test is non-proprietary (noice), revealing all dosages (NOICE!), which for the most part look noice.
The drawbacks: Mediocre Zinc form & DIM’s unreliable effects.
Pros definitely outweigh the cons on this formula.
Alpha Test Benefits
Alpha Test & MuscleTech are backed by a number of positive accolades: #1 Most Award Winning Sports Nutrition Brand. #1 Most Clinical Studied in Science. Guaranteed Banned Free Substance.
Oddly, a few of these accolades aren’t represented by any third-party institution, which has our cynical BRO senses tingling… But either way, Alpha Test reads like the real deal. The benefits it claims are:
- Increased serum T levels
- Increased ATP support
Essentially, testosterone & muscle energy are the primary benefits of this formula, and with Zinc, Boron, Fenugreek, & Shilajit under its belt, we believe it. The rest of the formula—Tribulus & DIM—has the potential to aid in further energizing male support via optimized male hormone levels & inhibited estrogen… Although we remain wary of DIM.
Who Takes It?
MuscleTech is shooting for the athletic, muscle-building crowd with this T-booster. Lacking the heavyweight T-boosters of a more mature-man T-booster, Alpha Test seems an appropriate supplement for younger bodybuilders looking to stimulate muscle growth & enhance their physical performance in & out of the gym.
Any Side Effects?
None reported. Like Test HD, Alpha Test is a T-booster designed to not require a PCT. Typically, this means that the T-boosts aren’t going to be too intense, which means the risk of side effect is very low. Additionally, these all-natural, standardized ingredients look healthy & well-tolerated. We don’t anticipate any bad reactions arising from this formula.

Final Word on Alpha Test
Alpha Test uses ingredients that are unique enough to warrant purchase, but familiar enough to guarantee recognizable effects. Essentially, it’s a common all-man’s man supplement, which is fine by us. Alpha Test offers another solid contender in the category of T-boosters that work.
