Fat burning supplements are ten a penny; it is a very competitive market and it takes something special for a particular product to stand out from the crowd.
Often, a fat burner supplement is either very high in stimulatory ingredients such as caffeine, synephrine, or octodrine, or they look to burn fat through the use of traditional medicine ingredients.
This leads to some fat burners being very unpleasant to take, but surprisingly effective. Or very easy to take, but basically useless.
Sculptnation Fat Burn is one such thermogenic supplement. … While thermogenic fat burning supplements certainly do increase your metabolism, it is less clear how good they are at actually burning fat and losing weight. A lot of fat burners out there make some extraordinary claims about their efficacy.
Finding a fat burner that is effective as well as easy to take is the goal of every supplement company. But it very rarely works out.
In this article we are going to take a look at BURN fat burner by Sculpt Nation. We will examine the ingredients list, assess the claims made by Sculpt Nation, and help you to decide whether BURN fat burner is worth your hard-earned cash.

About BURN Fat Burner by SculptNation
SculptNation is one of those infuriating supplement companies that provides absolutely no information about themselves on their website. We don’t know who founded the company, where the headquarters is located, or how to get there. It’s a nightmare!
They provide an email and telephone number for contact, but we’d prefer a bricks and mortar address too, if nothing else so that you know where to return products if you’re not happy with them.
If you’re going to sell supplements to the general public, then you should really consider being a little more open about who you are and where you’re based.
It will help with that no/like/trust that companies are all striving for.
SculptNation do appear to have a social media presence, but it doesn’t enlighten us any further, though its Facebook page does have 2.6 million likes at the time of writing which in theory offers some peace of mind.
So, all we know about this company from their own websites/ social media is that it was founded in 2017 and appears to have a pretty big dedicated following.
Which to be fair suggests they may be doing something right. We’d still prefer more transparency, however.
Anyway, enough complaining about their opaqueness. Let’s take a look at the actual supplement. Sculpt Nation claims that BURN is a potent fat burner that uses natural ingredients.
It is designed to burn fat, increase your energy, and suppress your appetite. It does this by boosting your metabolism and burning extra calories during the day.
All things considered, Sculpt Nation Burn is a bit of a disappointing product. Aside from cayenne pepper and green tea, there’s nothing convincing about this fat burner. It’s missing a strong appetite suppressant that we so often see in the most effective fat burners.

Directions for Use
These are capsules, so the idea would be to take them with water. SculptNation say that you should take this with a meal, once per day.
Due to the caffeine content we’d advise either breakfast or lunch, as caffeine with an evening meal could keep you awake (caffeine stays in the system for around 6 hours).
BURN Fat Burner Analysis
There are just six ingredients contained within BURN Fat Burner. This is quite a low number compared to most fat burning supplements, but not necessarily a bad thing.
Provided the ingredients have been well-chosen and well-dosed, this can be just as effective as a fat burner with many more ingredients.
Epigallocatechin (300mg):
Otherwise known as EGCG, green tea catechins are four molecules that can be found in green tea.
As SculptNation have made a big deal of all ingredients being natural, this is a good start.
Green tea extract is often mentioned as an effective fat burner, and it is no surprise that it is present in this supplement. However, EGCG is only effective in high doses (400-500mg per day).
Even worse, EGCG is only effective in people who don’t habitually take caffeine, and SculptNation contains caffeine!
Even if the dosage wasn’t too low, and even if the person had avoided caffeine for years beforehand, BURN would still become useless within a couple weeks, as you’d be habitually taking caffeine every time you took it!
Cayenne Fruit Extract (100mg):
Cayenne fruit extract is more commonly known (in the supplement world) as capsicum carotenoids. Capsicum carotenoids come from peppers, particularly chili peppers, and they are what makes the peppers hot.
Taking capsicum carotenoids can help to boost your metabolism and increase fat oxidation. Capsimax is a company that have super-charged their capsicum so that it is stronger and more potent than usual.
There isn’t a ton of studies that look at capsicum carotenoids and their effect on fat loss, but there is evidence that they boost fat oxidation and boost your metabolism.
So, if you join up the dots it does appear to work. The Capsimax website lists two studies that show Capsimax can improve body composition and burn fat.
The first is a 2010 study by Bloomer et al [1] that found that more fatty acids were released when exercising than in the placebo group. This points to increased lipolysis (fat burning).
The second study is by Lopez et al (2013) and the study found that body composition was improved over an 8-week period in those taking a capsaicin supplement [2].
A third study by Ryan et al (2009) found that a combination of Capsimax, caffeine, black pepper extract, and niacin was able to increase energy expenditure during exercise [3]. Meaning that you’ll burn more calories during a workout than you would normally.
Caffeine (100mg):
Caffeine is a very common fat burning ingredient, because, well … it works! There have been hundreds of studies that have shown caffeine to increase your metabolism, increase fat oxidation, and improve body composition.
However, the ideal dosage of caffeine for fat burning is around 200mg. As such, 100mg is a bit on the low side.
But to understand how useless a dose this is, you need to understand that caffeine will affect people of different weights in different ways. While 200mg of caffeine for weight loss is standard, a heavier person would need more caffeine to see the same effects.
Now ask yourself who is the target market for fat burners? Large people! A 120kg man is unlikely to notice any increase in metabolism from a 100mg caffeine dose (this is equivalent to a double espresso).
200mg or more would be an effective dosage. So, as it is, we can’t say that 100mg of caffeine is going to be very useful for fat loss. Unless you’ve never had caffeine before.
Grains of Paradise Seed Extract (30mg):
Also known as Aframomum melegueta, grains of paradise seed extract is a rarely used fat burning ingredient that is starting to crop up more and more in fat burners in the last couple years.
While it does appear to have an effect on your metabolic rate, the difference is minimal.
Sometimes, you find ingredients in supplements that are more effective on paper than they are in real life. Grains of paradise seed extract is one such ingredient.
At the moment, there are almost no studies into the effect of this ingredient on fat loss or metabolism.
But the company only has to mention a couple of studies where there was a tiny difference, and suddenly it sounds effective.
Yohimbine Hydrochloride (6mg):
This is a stimulant and an interesting ingredient which has been shown to significantly reduce body fat. A 2006 study published in Research in Sports Medicine took a look at the effect of yohimbine on fat loss and performance in soccer players [4].
While the study found no improvements in performance (they tested leg press, bench press, vertical jumps and some skill-based drills), there was a significant reduction in fat mass in soccer players who had supplemented with yohimbine.
Yohimbine appears to be equally effective for obese people and non-obese people. Often, a fat burning ingredient only works in people who are extremely overweight.
Leaving people who are slightly overweight but want help burning that last bit of stubborn fat out to dry.
Here’s where you need to be careful. Yohimbine is known to cause anxiety – it’s probably an ingredient to avoid if you have existing anxiety issues – and can also interact with many pharmaceutical medicines.
Be aware too that spot checks have found the labeled dosages of yohimbine in many products to be inaccurate.
As it stands, BURN claims to contain 6mg of yohimbine. This is actually very low. A 250lb person (113kg) requires around 22mg of yohimbine to see fat loss results (14mg for a 150lb person), though you should be extremely careful of taking so much yohimbine as it may interfere with the cardiovascular system.
Based on a ratio of 0.2mg per kg of bodyweight, 6mg isn’t helping anybody!
Its effectiveness is also partially reduced by food intake, which is surprising when SculptNation recommend taking this capsule with food.
Rauwolscine (3mg):
The final ingredient present in BURN Fat burner is Rauwolscine, an ingredient that is very similar to yohimbine but not as well known or researched.
There is some evidence that it may be an even more potent fat burning ingredient, but more studies are required before we can say for sure. A 1981 study showed that Rauwolscine affects fat burning through the same mechanism as yohimbine [5].

BURN Fat Burner Benefits
There are a couple of useful ingredients contained within BURN Fat Burner, the yohimbine works, the Capsimax is a decent ingredient. Caffeine and Green tea leaf extract both work too.
The problem is that many of the ingredients are under-dosed or ineffective.
Who Takes it?
SculptNation BURN Fat Burner is a supplement that can be taken by pretty much anyone (though pregnant women may want to avoid). Its ingredients will work with the very obese or the moderately overweight.
The packaging seems to be targeted more at men, but that’s just our opinion. This product seems to have a very broad potential market (no pun intended).
BURN Fat Burner Side Effects
Despite the health warnings above, there probably aren’t going to be many side effects with BURN – assuming the labeled doses are accurate – because as we said earlier most of the ingredients are under-dosed.
However, if you are caffeine-naïve you’re going to notice an increase in heart rate, possibly nausea, insomnia if taken too late at night, and maybe headaches.
Capsimax can lead to hot, flushed skin, a rise in heart rate, and potentially increased perspiration.
The side effects are kind of the point though (if that makes sense). This fat burner is supposed to work as a thermogenic. Raising your body temperature to increase your metabolism.
So you want it to increase perspiration, you want it to raise your heartrate, you want it to make you feel hot and sweaty. That’s the point.
Consider drinking more water though, to prevent the risk of dehydration. And be extremely careful with yohimbine if you’re taking any other medication or have anxiety issues.

BURN Fat Burner Price and Where to Buy
The best place to buy BURN Fat Burner by SculptNation is probably from the SculptNation website itself. It is currently selling for $49.00 down from $67.00 (though you suspect that it was always $49).
That works out at $1.63 per serving (30 servings per pack). This is an average price for fat burning supplements, but considering the lack of effectively dosed ingredients, it does seem a bit much!
You can also purchase it on Amazon for a similar price, which many people will be pleased with as you know where you stand with purchasing items on Amazon.
BURN Fat Burner Review Conclusion
There is an uncomfortable truth when it comes to fat burners, and that truth is that “natural” fat burners are rarely as effective as unnatural fat burners unless the manufacturer has really done its homework.
There are a few natural fat burners out there that are effective. What is frustrating is that BURN Fat Burner could have been one of them.
Increasing the dosages of certain ingredients could have made a huge difference. But instead, they’ve low-balled it.
This would be okay if there were a number of other effective ingredients to pick up the slack, but the remaining ingredients are less than impressive.
Green tea leaf extract as a fat burning supplement needs to go away, it is only effective for people who do not habitually take caffeine. Those people would do better just taking regular caffeine!
The only real positive we can think of is that because it is relatively low in caffeine, the side effects won’t be that pronounced.
Oh, and the addition of Capsimax is pretty good (but Capsimax is present in so many fat burners that this isn’t exactly a stand-out selling point).
Why you would buy a product like this when there are clever fat burners that do work – such as our favorite, Performance Lab SPORT Fat Burner – is the question.
