The best place to start in a supplement review?
The flavors.
And Testogen XR’s flavors include:
- Cherry Limeade
- Orange Creamsicle
- Strawberry Lemonade
- America
That’s right. There’s an “America” flavor. Which we imagine tastes like a mixture of burgers, ketchup, racecars, IHOP, and Tennessee whiskey. And what’s strangest about the America flavor is how it distracts from Orange Creamsicle, which is strange in its own right.
On that note, this better be a damn good formula, because we don’t know what to make of its tastes.

About Testogen XR
Not to be confused with the Zinc-intensive TestoGen, Testogen XR is the “Ultimate Testosterone & N.O. Amplifier” addition to the Ronnie Coleman Signature Series of supplements. Equal parts man-enhancer & vasodilator, Testogen XR is meant to be taken for clinically large T boosts and intense, muscle-pumping lifts. Formula notes:
- DAA & D: D-Aspartic Acid & Vitamin D are BIG time T-boosters and immediately solidify this formula as worthy testosterone booster.
- PWO Edge: Testogen XR isn’t just a T-booster to take willy-nilly over time. You want to take it right before your workout for increased muscle action.
- Ronnie Coleman: If you don’t know who Ronnie Coleman is, take the time to Google him up (or Yahoo him down; no judgment) before continuing this review.

Who cares what’s in it. Testogen XR had us at “Ronnie Coleman.”
Yeah, buddy!
When you win the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title 8 years in a row, a feat comparable only to BIG-man Mr. Schwarzenegger, you’re damn right we’re interested in your supplements.
First impression: Testogen XR stacks up some major T-boosts with heavy doses of PWO & performance-enhancing ingredients. This is definitely a Mr. Olympia-sized product.
But we won’t leave you hanging on a “first impression”—let’s see what these ingredients are all about:
D-Aspartic Acid, 3120 mg
If you check out our BIG LIST of T-Boosters, then you’ll see that D-Aspartic Acid (DAA) holds our #1 spot. Because this amino acid just works, dammit.
The theory: DAA signals for the increased delivery of T raw material to sites of T-synthesis in the testes—one study showing T-boosts as high as 42% in only 12 days.
This was with the DAA form used in Testogen XR, but, if it were up to us, we’d side with the more potent D-AA-CC form. Either way, this heavy dosage (3120 mg) of the less potent DAA may still induce some ball-dropping T-boosts.
AGMASS Agmatine Sulfate, 1000 mg
Working as one of the metabolites of L-Arginine, another amino acid responsible for increasing circulation (via N.O. boosting), Agmatine Sulfate is an interesting choice for Testogen XR for two reasons:
- Why not the more researched L-Arginine?
- Agmatine might actually inhibit nitric oxide.
The plus side: Agmatine seems to increase luteinizing hormone (LH) release, the hormone that triggers T-synthesis. So perhaps there’s a reason for the use of Agmatine (vs. L-Arginine) after all. At the least, this AGMASS brand is looking premium.
L-Carnitine Tartrate, 1000 mg
L-Carnitine L-Tartrate (LCLT) is the Carnitine form of choice for bodybuilders and athletes.
Of all the Carnitine forms, LCLT seems to work by increasing oxidation of fatty acids (i.e. burn fat) and transporting the fatty acid chains to mitochondria for increased ATP (i.e. energy!). These bio-effects make it a solid athletic-enhancing ingredient, especially for athletes looking to increase muscle gains & recovery while chipping off the fat.
AI Metabolizer, 100 mg
Diindolylmethane… We meet again.
Traditionally, Diindolylmethane (DIM) is consumed in its natural form: In cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. etc. Now, more and more are taking DIM extracts for their inhibition of aromatase—the enzyme responsible for converting T to estrogen.
The problem: Most DIM research centers on women’s health & post-menopause issues. There’s not enough alternative research to suggest that it works for male T-boosting.
There’s a reason why T-boosters include DIM. We’re just not sure if it’s a good reason, yet.
Absorption Agent, 50 mg
Like Black Pepper, AstraGin is an awesome absorption-enhancer that we’re happy to see in any formula. By repairing & reinforcing intestinal walls, AstraGin’s combo of Astragalus + Panax Notoginseng extracts increases the absorption of Testogen XR’s other ingredients—in effect increasing the total bio-availability of the formula.
Performance & Enhancement System, 1305 mg
This is your “rounding out the edges” blend: A fat dose of 5 diverse ingredients that contribute (or don’t) to the overall scheme of enhancing male performance. The ingredients:
- Taurine. Anti-stress amino (not bull semen) with additional cardio benefits.
- Horny Goat Weed. Sex-enhancing herb with T mimicking effects.
- Stinging Nettle. Potentially inhibits SHBG, increasing “free” T levels.
- Green Tea Extract. Plenty of potential benefits, one indirectly related to T.
- Calcium D-Glucarate. Decreases estrogen (and possibly T).
An overall smart (and slightly—only slightly—perplexing) blend for performance enhancement. It’s unique enough to potentially give Testogen XR an edge over other athlete-oriented T-boosters.
Formula Analysis
We don’t mean to give too much credit to formulas that carry D-Aspartic Acid, but when you start noticing a trend of effective, powerful boosters supplying DAA as their T-boosting star, it’s hard not to get excited about it.
Thus, Testogen XR definitely qualifies as an “effective, powerful booster.”
But it’s not just because of the DAA that we say that. It’s also the:
- Vitamin D.
- Vasodilators.
- Fat-burners.
- Stress-reducer.
- Absorption-enhancer.
This formula successfully stacks up so many diverse ingredients, taking the concept of “hybridization” and pushing it to the max. The fact that Testogen XR only refers to itself as a “Two-in-One Formula” seems a little modest when you tally up all of the bio-actions at play here.
However, it’s not without its faults, and, admittedly, one of them might be a deal-breaker for certain users—we’ll save that “fault” for the Side Effects section.
In terms of formula design, the faults we’re seeing are only potential faults, but they’re puzzling at the same time:
- Why not L-Arginine (or Citrulline) over Agmatine?
- Why Diindolylmethane (and not Luteolin, for instance)?
- Why Calcium D-Glucarate at all?
We know the answers to these, but the answers simply aren’t as good as the alternatives to these choices. Unless there’s something we’re not seeing here.
After all, Ronnie Coleman stands by a lot of these ingredients, so what the hell do we know, right??
Testogen XR Benefits
The two primary benefits purported by Testogen XR include:
- Boosts natural testosterone levels
- Amplifies male libido & performance
To which we say: Yes and Yes.
For everything Testogen XR claims to do, it backs it all up with the right ingredients. Granted, not all the ingredients are crystal-clear on their full bio-active potential, but even these “questionable” ingredients are backed up by others that work.
Testogen XR has the potential to work very well or at least work just as well as other qualified T-boosters.
Who Takes It?
Ronnie Coleman’s buddies. Yeah, buddy? Yeah, buddy. And we imagine his “buddies” are pretty big guys like him. For reasons we’ll get into in the next section, it’s probably better that BIGGER bodybuilding men stick to Testogen XR to reap the most benefits with the least risk of side effects—especially BIGGER bodybuilding men in the 30+ year range.
Any Side Effects?
The most common complaint: Diarrhea.
This has come from both negative complaints (“the runs that it gives are painful and never ending”) & positive reviews (“Runs yes… But holy beast mode Batman. I love it”). Because it’s a fairly dense formula, there are a few ingredients that may be responsible for this, but if we had to guess…
Agmatine Sulfate.
Agmatine is a common offender in the butt explosions and Testogen XR supplies a hefty dose of the stuff. For those who haven’t acclimatized to Agmatine, yet, let’s just say it’s apt to have runny consequences.
Testogen XR Summary
Pros
- D-Aspartic Acid. Only BIG-time boosters have the balls for (because of) DAA.
- Two-in-One Formula. PWO + T-boosters for all-around manliness.
- AstraGin. Enhances the overall power of this powerful man-enhancer.
Cons
- Questionable Ingredients. DIM, Agmatine, Calcium D-Glucarate.
- Proprietary Blend. The dosages need to be seen, doods.
- Mud Butt. It’s not everyone, but it’s a lot who report getting the runs.
Pricing & Buying Info
- 1 Bottle (1 month): $99.99*
- Available online and in retail stores
*This is the retail price. Don’t be alarmed by it, because most online retailers more than cut that price in half—averaging around the $30-$40 range.
Final Word on Testogen XR
The powder-based T-booster design is unique enough (and perhaps partly explains the butt explosions happening here). But even more unique than that is how Testogen XR successfully mixes powerful testosterone-boosters with PWOs & sex-enhancers–because, let’s face it, proper T-boosting is in itself a performance-&-sex-enhancer. Thus, adding more in those departments only furthers the value of this BIG-time booster. We wouldn’t expect anything less from a formula with Ronnie Coleman’s name on it.
